Gli Electric Light Orchestra sono un complesso vocale strumentale rock britannico sorto a Birmingham nel 1969 dalle ceneri della boat band denominata “The move”, fondata dal frontman Jeff Lynne e dall’istrionico Roy Wood, e piuttosto nota specialmente nella seconda metà degli anni settanta. Nel 2017 la band è stata inserita nella Rock And Roll Hall of Fame. Sono di genere pop, rock progressivo e Art Rock. I componenti sono: Jeff Lynne, Milton McDonald, Bernie Smith, Richard Tandy, e Donovan Hepburn.
Gli ex componenti principali sono: Roy Wood, Wilf Gibson, Bev Bevan, Kelly Groucut, David Scott Morgan, Mik Kaminski, Gregg Bissonnette, Matt Bissonnette e Iain Hornal. Hanno pubblicato 8 dischi degli anni 70 come: “ELO II”, “On the third day”, “Eldorado”, “Face the music” con la famosa canzone: “Evil Woman” col ritornello: “The evil woman, the evil woman, the evil woman, such an evil woman evil woman”, “A new world record”, “Out of the blue”, “Doscovery” con le canzoni: “Shine a little love”, “The diary of Horace Wimp” e “Don’t Bring me down”.
Hanno pubblicato 4 dischi degli anni 80 come “Xanadu” con la canzone “MAGIC”, “TIME” con la canzone “TWILIGHT” come il film, “Secret messages” con la canzone famosa: “FOUR LITTLE DIAMONDS Gli ultimi tre dischi degli Electric Light Orchestra sono: “Zoom”, “Alone in the universe” e “From out of nowhere” con le altre canzoni: “When I was a boy”, “Love and rain”, “Dirty to the bone”, “When the night comes”, “The sun will shine on you”, “Ain’t it a drag”, “All my life”, “I’m leaving you”, “One step at a time”, “Fault line, Blue”, “On my mind”, “Help yourself”, “All my love”, “Down came the rain”, “Losing you”, “One more time”, “SCI FI WOMAN”, “Goin out on me”, “Time of our life” e “Songbird”.
