I Franz Ferdinand sono un gruppo rock alternativo scozzese formatosi a Glasgow nel 2002. Gli ex componenti sono Nick McCarthy e Paul Thomson.
I componenti attuali sono: Alex Kapranos, Bob Hardy, Audrey Tait, Dino Bardot e Julian Corrie. Franz Ferdinand è una parola inglese che significa Francesco Ferdinando, proprio come il celebre arciduca il cui assassinio fu il casus belli per lo scoppio della prima guerra mondiale.
Nel 2004 pubblicarono l’album del gruppo omonimo con le 10 canzoni che sarebbero: “Jacqueline” col celebre ritornello “It’s always better on holiday so much better on holiday That’s why we only work when we need the money”, “Tell her tonight” con la celebre frase “Gonna have to tell her tonight”, “Take me out” col celebre ritornello “I know I won’t be leaving here with you I know I won’t be leaving here with you”, “The dark of the Matinee” col celebre ritornello “Find me and follow me Through corridors refectories and files You must follow, leave this academic factory You will find me in the matinèe, the dark of the matinèe, It’s better in the matinèe, the dark of the matinèe is mine Yes it’s mine”, “Auf Achse”, “Cheating on you” con la frase principale “I’m cheating on you yeah I’m cheating on me”, “This fire” col celebre ritornello “This fire is out of control we gotta burn this city burn this city”, “Darts of pleasure” col celebre ritornello “You can feel my lips undress your eyes undress your eyes undress your eyes Words of love and word of leisured Words are poisoned darts of pleasure Die and so you die”, “Michael”, “Come on home” con la celebre frase “So come on home” e “40”.
Nel 2005 pubblicarono “You could have it so much better” con le famose canzoni “Do you want to” mentre nel testo dice “Do you wanna” e “Walk away”. Nel 2009 pubblicarono “Tonight Franz Ferdinand” Nel 2013 pubblicarono “Right thoughts, right words right action”. Nel 2015 pubblicarono FFS e l’ultimo album dei Franz Ferdinand è “Always ascending”.
